I’m LaTonia Simmons, an independent Licensed Mental Health Counselor with dual master’s degrees in Education and Counseling.

I believe you are the expert of your own life. While I bring professional knowledge, clinical experience, and therapeutic tools to the room, you bring the lived experience of being you. My role is not to tell you who you are or dictate how your life should look, but to walk alongside you as we explore your experiences, identify patterns, navigate challenges, and discover what supports meaningful and lasting change.

My approach is client-centered and trauma-informed, with an emphasis on creating a space where you can feel seen, heard, respected, and free to be your authentic self. I believe therapy should be a place where you can be challenged with compassion, encouraged without judgment, and reminded that your struggles do not define your entire story.

As a Christ-centered counselor, my faith is an important part of who I am and how I understand healing, hope, identity, and purpose. At the same time, I deeply respect that every client has their own beliefs, values, and worldview. Faith is an invitation, not an imposition. For clients who desire it, I am happy to incorporate Christian principles, Scripture, prayer, and spiritual reflection into our work. For those who do not, you can expect the same respect, compassion, and quality of care without pressure to adopt my beliefs.

Ultimately, I believe therapy is about creating room for you to grow—not becoming someone else, but becoming more grounded, self-aware, empowered, and connected to the person you were created to be.

And yes, we may unpack some heavy things along the way… but there’s a good chance we’ll laugh a little too. After all, healing and humor can absolutely share the same couch.

You don’t have to have it all figured out to begin. You just have to be willing to start.

LaTonia maintains her own independent counseling practice. Referrals and services are coordinated directly through her practice.
"What you focus on grows"

"Before we focus on what needs to change above ground, let's get curious about what's happening at the roots."
